Peace that lasts

Happy New Year! It’s a phrase we all say as January begins, and I’m sure we genuinely mean it when we wish one another a happy year ahead. Yet, we also know that life doesn’t always go according to our plans. The news often brings troubling headlines, and closer to home, often we each face personal challenges, sadness, or uncertainty. One year may be joyful, the next more difficult.

This might not seem like the most uplifting way to start the year, but the Bible teaches that even in the midst of these realities, we can know peace.

In the gospel of John chapter 16 verse 33 Jesus says; These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

The word “gospel” means “good news” and this verse gives us real hope, reminding us that even when life is difficult, we can know lasting peace deep within. This peace comes from knowing the Lord Jesus, who overcame the world through His death on the cross. Whatever the year ahead may bring, this promise remains: true peace is found in Him.
