This year, as we travel on the roads, it seems there are potholes everywhere. If you are driving, it can sometimes feel like a choice between dodging a crater in the road or risking a near‑miss with another car. For some of us, these potholes have already led to frustrating wheel changes in dark laybys, or long waits for roadside recovery. The result is often an expensive new tyre, or sometimes even a new wheel.
These potholes are like the troubles we all encounter in our lives, which can suddenly appear without any warning. When something difficult happens so quickly and beyond our control, it can almost feel dream‑like, and we find ourselves saying, “This can’t be happening to me.”
How wonderful it is, as Christians, to know that nothing takes God by surprise. All our ways are known to Him. The Bible assures us that we can trust in God and that He is with us through every trouble.
Psalm 37:23&24; The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his
hand.”
